Erotic Temple Art of India
The next several galleries feature sacred sex sculpture decorating the Khajuraho Tantra Temples of India.
The temples were built during the Chandella dynasty circa 1000 CE.
They stand as beacons for all to see, of a culture that integrated sexuality with spiritual practice.
The time, money, effort, and detail put into these structures could only occur in a society
where such practice was widespread and of great importance.
There were an estimated 85 such temples in the region, only about 20 of which remain.
The first two galleries show entire temples.
The galleries after show the exquisite erotic detail, many with explicit sexual acts.
