This sheet lists basic facts pertaining to the initiative to legalize sacred sex instruction by certified teachers for hire. For more details, see the Interview with Gary Joseph.

What is sacred sex? Sacred sex is a unique practice, distinct from conventional sex in method and result.

Nature of the dispute: The legal dispute pertains to one specific way in which sacred sex may be taught -- by a trained expert teaching a student through direct sexual exchange. If the teacher is compensated, the practice is illegal under prostitution laws. (Note: there are other teaching methods that are 100% legal.)

Society for Sacred Sexuality's position: Sacred sex is distinct from conventional sex and has positive life influence; it should therefore be legislated separately.

Status of the legal action: The Society for Sacred Sexuality strives to educate the public and lawmakers as to the distinction between sacred sex and common sex, and advocates legal reform allowing for regulated teaching of sacred sex. We do not support court challenge of sex laws at this time (check here for latest updates).
